Printing name badges live: Here's how it works at the event entrance
Features

With Beyond Tickets, you can print name badges directly upon entry: the guest is scanned, the badge comes automatically out of the printer, in real time and without a pre-prepared list. This saves preparation time and also works for short-notice registrations or walk-ins.
How does the live badge printing work?
The process is simple: the Entry App scans the ticket, the name and other info (e.g. company or category) are automatically printed on the badge. Scanner and printer communicate wirelessly via Bluetooth, so there is no cable mess at the entrance desk.
The setup requires little space and can be set up flexibly, whether you operate a single reception desk or multiple stations in parallel.
Which formats are possible?
Printing is done on blank badges, with the label containing the name and info applied directly. This means: You can design the badge entirely yourself, from the shape to the branding, and you are not bound to a fixed template.
Practical example: 100 years of KIBAG
At the 100-year KIBAG anniversary in Nuolen SZ, live badge printing was used on a larger scale for the first time. Around 11,000 guests attended over the three event days, and each badge was printed in less than a second. The advantage: no more pre-printed lists, no errors with last-minute changes, and the team at the reception could focus entirely on the guests instead of paper chaos. Learn more about the whole event in the KIBAG anniversary case study.
For which events is this suitable?
Live badge printing is particularly worthwhile for:
Corporate events and anniversaries with name tags
Conferences and conventions with categories (e.g. speaker, guest, press)
Events with short-notice registrations where pre-printed badges are not practical
What is needed for on-site use?
Beyond Tickets provides the thermal ticket printers required for live printing, and on request, also the staff on site. So you don't have to organize your own hardware or worry about the technology.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an internet connection for badge printing?
No. Scanner and printer communicate via Bluetooth, badge printing works completely offline, just like the Entry App itself.
How fast is a badge printed?
In less than a second per badge, which we tested at the KIBAG anniversary with around 11,000 guests.
Can I rent everything from you?
Yes, we provide the hardware (thermal printers) and, on request, the staff at attractive rates.
Does this also work with large numbers of guests?
Yes, the setup is designed for parallel stations.
Can I design the badge myself?
Yes. Printing is done on blank badges, and the label is applied directly. This allows you to completely determine the shape and branding yourself.
